Amethyst is of the quartz family and is a violet colored quartz mineral. Quartz is a crystalline mineral that consists of silicon and oxygen atoms. Chevron Amethyst is a combination of Amethyst (violet quartz) and White Quartz. The White Quartz forms in a banded, chevron pattern through the Amethyst, hence the name "chevron amethyst".
