Blue Aragonite Sphere

This listing is for one carved Blue Aragonite Sphere.  This piece approximately weighs 120 grams and measures at 1.75" in diameter.   

Aragonite is a carbonate mineral.  It is one of the most common crystalline forms of calcium carbonate.  Natural pearls are mostly formed by aragonite.  The Aragonite bonds with conchiolin, in a process that takes 7 years to complete.  Many fossil shells composed from calcite were first formed of aragonite.  Abalone shells are actually made of aragonite and that gives them the mother of pearl look.
