Tiger Eye is a is a quartz gemstone that forms when fibers of the mineral crocidolite are replaced by silica.  It displays a cat-eye effect (chatoyancy) when moving it back and forward in light.  It is one of the most ancient talismans that was respected and at time feared.  It represented the all seeing and all knowing eye and it was thought that the person who wore it could gain the vision to see through closed doors.  Egyptians put the stone in the eyes of their deity statues, which expresses divine vision.  It was also believed that when worn one would gain the protection of the sun and earth gods, Ra and Geb.
